Faint Turn Signal Sound

Is anyone else experiencing a faint turn signal sound? I can barely hear mine. There are times when I see the green arrow lit on the dash and realize I left it engaged by mistake. I wish it sounded louder. How can I adjust them? Thanks, Regina

I don't know if you can adjust the sound. I believe that it is mechanical. I can hear mine while stopped or cruising at a low speed. Once at highway speed I can barely hear mine.

I agree with this, I wish it was a bit LOUDER. I have observe that in direct sunlight, the indicators are not visible to the driver.

Generally the sound of turn indicators is made by the clicking of the relay that operates them. There are relays available that click louder than others for people that have hearing difficulties. It's just a matter of finding one that's compatible-usually a store like Autozone or Pep Boys will have that info in their computer.

From what I can tell by sound, the turn signals on the smart are not flasher/relay operated. A lot of GM cars are going this route, and it sounds very similar. It is a very distinct electronically generated click.

Perhaps there is some sort of adjustment that can be made in software? On some of the more advanced GM models, this is adjustable, so it is feasible - just depending on how they have this thing set up.

Damnit, I need a service manual.

Service manual

I stand corrected, this is the owner manual. Some of us, waiting owners, like to read the manual ahead of delivery...

service manual

Your link led to the owners manual that comes with every 451 smart...no tech there! Many of us would love a service manual to answer the real smart questions.

Well, I hope someone will figure it out and post here, I have caught the blinker on a number of times, realizing I left it on. I know, I know, but I'm old.;)
