I would consider the backrest wear premature in a car with 60 to 80 thousand miles.

My seats in my aztek did that on the passenger side. A friend of mine would like to sit on his leg and have his shoe cause this same feature. (formed in only a few short trips) Its a worn fuzz. The shaver might work, but something has caused this, think about what is rubbing against those seats...but nothing will make it go away permentally. I'd invest in some nice seat covers...consider it an upgrade!

Lemon Laws don't cover upholstery. No pun intended, of course.

If someone is of a wider girth, they may wear out the upholstery in the seat back and not the seat. That isn't covered.

I take it back, not like new. Looked at my driver seat, in the sun yesterday. Just a little bit of fraying, at the lower bottom end of the seat back. Its where the seat belt rubs, against the seat. Cheap material!!!

Of course, most of the car's fabric is Velcro friendly (i.e. the document's net holder, the bottom of the cargo divider, etc...).

the very edge of my passenger seat started fraying within the first 5,000 miles pretty badly. I'll try to post a pic today after work. I gotta get my wife to stop wearing velcro skirts and pants with rivits on the inside knees i guess

Not sure if mine's a warrenty issue (i guess it wont hurt to ask), but its definitely encouraging me to go with those seat covers at Smart Madness
