Front grill chrome insert

A pickup truck was nice enough to kick up a stone from a construction zone, and cracked the chrome piece on the front of my smart. I've got a new one on order, but I cannot seem to figure out how to remove this. There's a few snaps that are visible, but I cannot seem to get them all.

Anyone know how to remove that strip of plastic?

you have to take the front panels off to get the insert off. I replaced my surround with a diff color (silver to black). There r some small hidden clips that are not readily reached without removing the panels.

It is possible to get it off without removing the front module.

I use a very small flathead screw driver and slide it between the panels to release the clips.

It is pretty easy to damage the panels if you are not careful so go slow and if you are not feeling good about it just remove the front module to make it easier.
