Fuel Gauge problem

I had my first real problem at 1600 miles. I was taking a 'short' trip to the store and didn't have my cell phone. I was just cruising along and the car suddenly shut off. I still had 1/8 tank of gas so I figured it was an ignition problem. I had it towed (carried) to the dealer and they found it to be out of gas and the gauge was not working. They have ordered a new one, from France and it'll be a week to get it. Now I've picked up the car and filled it with gas to make sure I have enough and the entire black bar across the bottom of the display is flashing off and on. Hopefully, the new gauge replacement will fix this next week. So, you all may want to keep an eye on the fuel a little more closely, and don't rely on that gauge!

My problem started with the second fillup. Went 96 miles and still showing a full tank. At mile 97 I used one segement. At miles 110 I used another segement. Problem persisted. I was showing 2 segements when I filled up with 7.49 gallons - meaing there was 1.2 gallons, incuding the 1.0 reserve. Dealer told me it was working okay per computer check. I am not a happy camper with this situation.
