You're making me want this car more and more!!! Problem is, we need to run the air here since the temperature is usually in the 90's a lot. Even when it's not hot, if you leave the A/C off, the windows fog up from the rain.

There is no free lunch. The smart does have the lowest operation cost of any car though.

I know. Take any car and look what it would cost for oil and filter changes, transmission flushes, etc.

For the smart car I can run 14 quarts of oil and 4 filters for 100,000 miles and about 2 or 3 quarts of fluid for the transmission. I can't think of any other car in the U.S. that you can do that with.

Still driving it like I stole it

A/C on all the time now and mostly city driving, less than 5 mile trips.

I've been silently thinking about this but not sure weather to post it. What each of us weighs is going to affect our MPG so if you're a skinny twig you'll get good better MPG than if you're a fat worm. I'm carrying more weight than I should and think that's why I'm getting screwed on MPG even though 70% of my driving is highway.

Driving with AC on all the time.

Central Michigan to Dallas last week, roughly 1,300 miles on roughly 30 gallons of gas = roughly 43.3mpg. Thats with the A/C on and the cruise control set usually around 70-75 mph according to the GPS. (average driving speed: 68.4mph, also according to "Geepus.")
