Tank # 10

174.7 miles 4.45gal 39.3mpg 92 Octane $14.56 spent on gas for the week
We are saddled with reformulated fuel here in MA it has Alcohol in it all year round now that MTBE is banned. It costs power and mileage and the coal plant up the road is still spewing out a variety of toxins and our air quality rivals the LA basin for nastiness without the good weather.
The car makes me smile.

Hey Smart people

I did a road trip from Bakersfield, CA. up the mountains into Glenville, CA. then down the I5 freeway into Lake Forest CA. The I5 pass is a bear to climb and the Smart Car with a passenger and luggage handled it very easily. Coasting down was also easily done and the car handled better than expected. The Smart Car was also very comfortable the entire trip.

Drove 223.6 miles, used 5.089 Gallons @ $3.779 per gallon of gas and cost was $19.23. 43.94 MPG. Cruised at 65 -70 mph since its a new car too.

I've had my smart 1 week and have racked up 1065 miles on the engine already, since I commute 120 miles per day. It hasn't dropped below 40 MPG yet.

Average milage

I now have 4600+ miles on my smart with about 75% city and 25% highway and the average is 38 mpg. I am very happy withe the fuel economy.

I love the smart!!!!!!!

first fill-up 272 miles - very non-conservative - lots of high speeds/high winds (wanted to see if she'd fly) always a/c (live in desert) mostly just me driving (we're bonding) - city/freeway driving (not sure how full the dealer filled it, so not putting too much into the first reading - but given the driving using auto/paddle/shifter works out to be 33 mph... I'm pleased, expect higher MPG as she matures (or I do)...

Fill up number 8 again I topped 300 miles. I used 8.23 gallons for 301.3 with a mpg of 36.6.

I am having fun with Squirtle; but the gas mileage is getting better with every fill up.

Filled up for the first time today...

343.6 miles and 8.22 gallons to fill up equals 41.8 mpg.

Almost all of the mileage was at highway speeds (55 to 65 mph) in strong, gusty winds. Elevations in the range 5,200 to 7,700 ft, with one mountain pass over 9,000. A/C in use for about one third of the total miles.

Driving style fairly conservative. All in manual mode, shifting later than the "shift indicator" wanted, but keeping the rpms down none-the-less.

No idea what grade or brand of gas, since the tank was full when I picked up the car.

First measured tank, ignored the tank from the dealer not knowing if it was truly full. So:

181.2 miles, about 120 freeway (with top down), 5.358 gal.= 33.819 MPG.

Total miles to date 347. I am wondering what the impact of freeway speeds, (70-75 MPH), are with the cabriolet top down. May get a chance to measure tomorrow when making the same trip in the rain, therefore top up. Also, please note all mileage to date is in manual mode using either the stick or paddles. I don't over-rev and like the way the I avoid luging the engine in auto mode. Anyone else feel this way?

328.3 miles the fuel indicator began flashing and stated 1.0 gallon remains.
330.1 miles I filled up with 7.566 gallons at $3.97 per 91 octane gallon.

43.63 MPG

While commuting, its smooth sailing for 60 miles to work (60-70 mph.) Then stop and go traffic while returning home for another 60 miles.

I sure would like to see the 46 MPG Hwy (expected range) mentioned on the window sticker

Second measured tank. (I always buy gas at the same Costco, 91 octane).

Total miles to date: 467
Miles this tank: 138.5, (about 120 freeway 70-80 mph, top down)
3.940 gal. ($3.699/gal) = 35.152 mpg (all miles were in auto vs. 1st measured tank which was paddle/manual)

Going to try an experiment next week on my usual freeway run from Corona to No. San Diego County, all freeway driving will be with the top up. I want to see if there is a drag factor from soakin' up the 'rays. I'll let you know.

Sparky
