Okay, here's me being a little more specific. Go to Google, type in Smart Car on water, and see whatcha get. Should be a lotta sites that tell you how to save oodles by running yer car using water as fuel. Is this for real, or is it too good to be true?

price bottled water the next time you stop for gas,
too good to be true file
We've put about 1200 miles on the car and have consistently gotten 35-36 mpg around Long Island, NY. As the price of gas keeps climbing this car is beginning to look better and better. We did have an emissions valve that quit early on, but other than that, the car has been great. As any of you know who own one, a crowd gathers when its parked. We've even been followed to a stop so people can talk. Kids scream as if it were a rock star. Amazin'.
I still don't get this highway mileage. The last time I filled up I got 49 MPG. It was just my normal commuting back and forth to work.
Then today, I filled up and I got 37 MPG. Last night, I went to Baltimore and drove like 65-70 MPH (with trucks passing me) and I get worse gas mileage.

When you fill up, are you following the same procedure? At the same station?
The reason I ask is that the last station I went to, the pump shut off prematurely, so I went to another station across the street, and following my same fill up procedure I was able to add another gallon of gas to my tank. Made a big change in my mileage. But, I'm still getting 49 mpg. with little highway driving.

One difference when I got 49 mpg is that the tank was about half full compared to almost empty (added 7.6 gallons) when I got 37 mpg. I do use the same station as much as I can. It just seems odd to me that when I take it on the highway, I have been getting worse mileage...
OK ive had my smart for 28 hrs and ive already burnt a tank!man this car really likes to run at 3300 rpms been using a feathering with the gas paddle ,shifts smoother i think. like shifting a 5 speed without using the clutch first fill up 8.2gals 337 miles. land around here is real flat i think i can get high 40 as soon as i can slow down to 55 mph. past a cop on a back road i was doing 70 just playing with i pulled over right away, he slowly turned around pulled up behind me and never turned on his lights. as soon as he walked up i said"hoss i just got this car and im tring to figure out this dand blane cruse control" pointing to the shifter paddles. he said "you know what kind of car this is dont you" i said smart car!!" he said "no its called trouble cause this car will get you in trouble_____________________ next time"lol well all for now. i love this car!!!!!!!! oh the gas gage was showing .4 left

So, second fill up, slightly worse mileage. afternoon fill up, heat, worse.
269 miles, 7.90 gallons, This last week I did about 50 miles with AC, 20 miles in SFO with lots of hills, and about 120 highway no AC.
So, we dropped to 34 from 37. What's up with that?
Yes the mileage we receive, from my understanding will vary driver to driver, terrain, to terrain and even the time we fill up, all have a factor. Also we need to remember..how much did we try to 'top it off'? What about shifting?
Yep all this can really throw our numbers off.
Hopefully I am just 'doing the math' incorrectly...gallons divided into miles..and not rounding off. So I can get anywheres from 37mpg to 42mpg-ish) haha
I consider myself a conservative driver...not a lead foot at all, but if I can get a higher mpg like 49 or more ZIPPITTY DOO DAH!
