Just turned 3000 miles, last fill at 3000 6.9 gallons, 288 miles, 41.73 mpg. Half city, half two lane state routes @ about 62 mph. Again, this is great.
Fuel Economy **search for mpg listings on Convertibles, mine is the smart cabrio in Maine. every last one of my fillups are listed, with a nice graph available. Last 4 tanks were over 40mpg each, average to 3920 miles was over 39. I'm happy.
I was elated when we pulled into Costco today to gas up with their $3.83 gas and found that we had gone 194 miles in the last week and used 5.994 gallons giving us 32.4mpg. Then my wife brought me back to reality as i heard her saying "We still have a month to go until we get our Smart." We were still in our 1984 Honda Civic Wagon, but we're practicing driving it like a smart trying to manage energy our stops and starts and not driving over 65.
I've had four fill-ups in my car. I always use 93 octane which, in our part of the world, is marked to contain 15% ethanol. I normally use Valero or Exxon. I drive 90% stop and go city driving (20-40 mph) and 10% on the freeways across town at 65+ mph. The range has been from a low of 33.4 mph to a high of 37.8 mph. Significant factors seems to be (1) whether I'm using the air conditioner and (2) whether I'm shifting manually. Both seem to use more fuel than if I let the car shift automatically and don't run the A/C. (And now that it's 90+ degrees in Texas, that won't change until next November.)
359 miles plus however many miles the dealer put on that tankful before I took delivery (<15), 0.7 (close to 0.6) gallons remaining according the dash readout, and 7.4 gallons to fill: looks to be 48.5+ mpg. Mostly highway driving @60, but the first 50 miles were moderate speed urban driving, with a few pulls to redline and some paddle shifter and AC usage after that.
You have the exact car I am looking to get, how does it do in ice and snow?

You know, I used to own one of those in college.
Great little car, I still miss it!
For what it's worth, after about 2500 miles, mostly city driving, some expressway, mostly in auto shift mode, and often with AC on, my overall mileage has been 38.8mpg. Not bad!
I have a little over 1113 miles on my smart. I am only getting 28-34 miles per gallon
mostly around town or not over 20 miles away from home at a stretch.. premium shell gas. I do not take off fast, mostly use automatic mode. has anyone else been getting low mpg... what could be wrong...........???Donnah
