Glove box and coins - how not to...

If you have coins (or other thin items) that get placed on the dash shelf in front of the glove box that happen to slide under the glove box door and become irretrievable, don't try to use a paper clip, shop vac, wire, tape, or other item to get these items out of that area.

Save yourself some grief and just remove the two hinges on the glove box door with a flat headed screwdriver (completely remove one at a time), take the glove box door off, and then retrieve the lost items.

Not that I spent a lot of time trying to fish coins out with a paperclip and a flashlight...

Yes, good idea. The hinges are very similar to regular door hinges and the pins can be slid out easily. (Wish I had noticed that for the first installation inside the glove box. Taking off off the door sure made drilling another hole in the back (for a different installation project) much simpler.
