Had mine one day and have two problems (tailgate, CEL)

I have a cabrio and it's a rare occurrence when the tailgate actually opens for me. I hit the unlock twice and try to lift the gate and nothing, no solenoids, no click, no nothing. About 1 time in 10 it actually opens.

I've also had a service engine soon light (engine MIL light) since I picked it up from the dealer.

It's headed back for repairs next week.

Hi Smarty42

Bummer about the engine light, but I thought press and hold was to unlock the back window and press twice unlocks both doors.

That's how it works on my coupe.

Let us know what the dealer says, ok?

Check the quick manual, I recall so differences between how the key works for the passion compared to the cabrio

Yep, I'm following the instructions and the tailgate still doesn't open regularly. Dealer says they'll come pick up the car and check it out for me.

I'll keep you posted on what they find.

From experience with other vehicles,, the check engine light could be the vent cap on the gas filler not tight, and maybe engine filter box not secure or put together correctly. Or a poop load of other items as well, those were the simple ones.

For the Passion Coupe - Just got it figure out today on how to get the back window open.
If you are using the remote control, you have to hold the button down for a few seconds before the back window will prop.
To open it manually at the tailgate, put your fingers in the handle and push up, you will notice that the back window prop; do not press or pull towards yourselves as that will not work.

Again, problems between the steering wheel and the driver's seat solved. smart is teaching its operators well, but it takes time. READ THE MANUAL!

Sorry to hear this, but remember this is a BRAND NEW MODEL. ALL brand new model cars I have been involved with have had to get the gremlins out of them. I hope you have a good dealer and service center. Hope all is fixed soon.

My check engine light came on after my first fill-up, about 3 miles down the road. Tightened the cap, turned the car off and on and all was well.
