Head light bulb blown!!!

I was wondering if any one has had to replace and put in new head light bulbs yet. To me it seems premature for I only have 20,000 Miles on my Smart.
2 weeks ago My left bulb blown and today while driving on my lunch I notice the right one is now blown.
I do leave my lights in the auto position so 75% my head lights are on because I drive my smart all night for my 3rd shift job and they tend to stay on when its dark or cloudy out side.
Is this normal? Would something like head light bulbs be covered under warranty?

What do you guys think let me know Im puzzled for it seems fast for them to blow even if they where on most of the time.

My .02 cents

With the added 3rd shift driving I can see them going out around this time... especially with them staying on in cloudy situations... They're not covered by your warranty... I'd suggest an upgrade to the Sylvania Silverstars.

I agree, Its a good time for a Silverstar upgrade, I don't beleive in replacing a perfectly good lamp, but once they are dead, Upgrade.

Dunno. You could probably get them to replace them because of its shortened lifespan. Wouldn't mention the night driving. Then again, it might just be worth the time and grief to buy the Silverstars.

You work 5 days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day, the headlights are on all that time, you have 20,000 miles on the smart since delivery in April.

8X5X36 = 1440 hours on the headlights if you don't never drive at night on weekends or use the headlights as DRLs during the day. The life expectancy of an H7 lamp is 550 - 600 hours so maybe you're not doing too bad?

trouble maker...

If he did take it to Buckhead, the only way they would even consider covering it would be after they checked the electrical system and found something wrong... that would probably take atleast a day so he'd be out the car and most likely the money for a rental...

Cheaper just to get the Silverstarts...

Just be sure when you go to install them to NOT touch the glass on the bulb. The grease that is naturally on your hands can cause the bulb to fail early.

Silver Star 4100K upgrade

Well today I upgraded alittle something which I call attention to detail.
I had the OEM Standard headlight projector bulbs in the Smart that where 3100K. Last night I went ahead and upgraded to the SilverStar Ultra 4100K. The light now projects a cleaner natural bright white light.
While I was at it I replaced the ugly orange signals with hyper white bulbs and replaced the parking dims by swapping them out to a color that will add just a taste of flavor when in dim mode. (Similar to the Scion Fuse Concept Car)

I will try and get pics soon.
