Headlight problem?

Man, I hate to make this post! I think my auto-headlight sensor died. Noticed today that my green headlight symbol was on in bright daylight. Tried turning the headlight to off and back to auto but still came on. Got home and shined a flashlight on the sensor. Still stayed on. Anything I can check or should I call the dealer?

Mine is kind of weird too, at times. I think it depends on the specific conditions. I've had the lights on in bright summer sun, and off in rain. Just when I think there's a problem though, they behave like they should. I'd give it a few days to see if it sorts itself out before becoming overly concerned.

My headlights go on if I pass through a shaded area or when there is subdued light. I just let them stay on and they eventually go off. They will come on at any hint of lowered light. If you don't like this, the only thing you can do is turn the lights off manually. I just ignore the lights being on and let the automatic feature do its thing, although it is a bit sensitive.

I'm used to auto headlights but today it was facing into the bright sunlight and they were still on. No big deal. The headlights just draw some attention to a car that nobody notices anyway.

I've had the same situation almost from day one. Well, at least from month one. If it was just having the lights come on due to reduced lighting, as Smart Bob described, I would imagine that was a normal function! But, in full bright sunlight. No, not normal.

I'd have taken it to the dealer long ago, if it wasn't a 600 mile round trip.

I put a 3/4" circle of black tape over the sensor to make up for the lack of Daytime Running Lights. So I expect my headlights to automatically come on anytime the ignition is on.

I figure as long as they come on when necessary: at night and driving into the garage, I'm satisfied. At least they don't turn off at night. That WOULD be a problem!!!

Sorry, I am lost here. What are we talking about? Lights that go off automatically in bright sunlight? My pure has this? (Should I finally read the manual?)

The automatic headlights and wipers are included with the comfort package. I don't think that's offered on the Pure. - sheureka
