THAT was an "early" 09 release change. There was SO many problems with it, that they went back to the standard 08 set up

I was under the impression that the 08s were on all the time. The 09s had it set up where the mirrors came on with the window, but that made anyone with the auto wipers/lights have a slow drain while the car was parked. So the dealers have been putting a bridge into the fuse box and that's fixing that issue.

My understanding is that they are on when the temperature is below a certain level, but not "all the time". I'll have to test it out this week if it warms up again.

Key on and mirrors stayed cool. (Waited at least five mins)
Turned on rear defroster and mirrors started heating up immediately.
Turned off rear defroster and mirrors cooled down.

It was 52 degrees yesterday, and my '08 did not have warm mirrors.

I will be taking delivery of an 09 (also red) in a month or two. I would not mind if the mirror heat is tied in with the rear window defrost, but would probably add a switch (or use one of the unused dash switches) if they are always on. How have the 09s delivered in the last few weeks been configured?
