How have the 09s delivered in the last few weeks been configured?
09 blu and silver, bild 12/08

Heatef mirrors activate by heated window switch. Its on a switch, don't use another one.

And besides, we have a fourm member who works for smart that says the 08s were supopsed to stay on and would not overheat.

MY 09 with a build date of 12/08 also, is NOT activated by the switch

I verified today (22 degrees) that my mirrors are cold with the key off, but heat up when the key is on, like the 08's.

Guess I'll be putting in the "switch" mod

If it is hot to the touch, something is off. If it isn't coming on with the switch, but is coming on with the car running, do you run the car and the switch?

My guess is that the factory/dealer didn't put the bridge in your car. You don't need a switch, you need the bridge.

Actually, I would prefer the switch. I don't necessarily want my mirrors on with the rear defroster; I prefer to operate it independently

I have 1 switch left in my switch bank and I think I'll be using that one for the mirrors

Is this something I should check when picking up my car this weekend? Will I be able to tell at the dealership?

Checked my Silver 09 built 12/08 and the mirrors are on with key on and switch off. So they must stay on. Guess I will call the service dept. I really do not want these on all the time.

Was told by Smart Round Rock that they modified the 09 back to 08 setup because of the battery drain issue. mine does have the auto wiper/light comfort pkg.

Mine do stay on all the time with key on. dont know what to believe.

Build date of 01/09
Outside temp was 72F+
I also have auto wiper/light & comfort package.

Mine go on/off with the ignition key. On other cars I have with these they come on with the RW defroster.

Oh well, its under warranty for now...
