Just changed the oil at 4,000 miles -- Some suggestions.

I just changed the oil at 4,000 miles and not a minute too soon! It was black and gunky. I wish I had known in advance that Advance Auto had the Smart Car filters. I didn't want to chance voiding the warranty with the comparable filters I saw posted here and elsewhere even though they didn't have the Smart Car name on them, so I bought one from the dealer the other day. $14.00! Advance Auto has the Mobil One Smart Car filter for $1.95. Discovered it when I went to buy the oil.

In addition to what others have recommended about doing your own oil change, I'd recommend you get a pair of Rhino ramps and spray the drain plug with penetrating Liquid Wrench the first time you try to take it off.
The Rhino ramps made it very easy to get under the car and do the change. The drain plug would not come off until I put some Liquid Wrench on it.
