increased volume and speed effect

i've discovered an interesting correlation between CD player volume and increased performance in my smartmobile. it seems that when i increase the volume of the CD player (in this case, The Pixies album "Doolittle"), the smartmobile seems to have significantly greater acceleration and top speed. also, the engine seems to rev a lot closer to redline...hmmmm

has anyone else noticed this effect?

good point...the effect may actually be caused by the song itself...i didn't consider that....

Sounds like a Psychomechanical phenomena, it happens to me too if I'm listening to hard rock, heavy metal translates to an altered state of mind resulting in a heavy foot.

I thought it was only me. I've noticed this phenomena with a number of songs, like Dreams I'll Never See - Molly Hatchet, for example.

Mine moves faster with Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, or Linkin Park. Enya and Enigma seem to slow it down. Yes, I'm convinced the CD changer is connected to the transmission.

Yes, Linkin Park does the same thing to me. And System of a Down brings me dangerously close to personally knowing my local highway patrol people.

perhaps the CD player is somehow linked to the mysterious "transmission learning program" somewhere deep within the electronic brain of the smartmobile? I wonder what will happen if I play more Bach: will the shift points become smoother and more syncopated and couterpointy?
