I use hydrogen peroxide to clean glass. It works great and doesn't streak or have any odor. I use approximately 70% Hydrogen Peroxide and 30% water and mix in a spray bottle. Hydrogen peroxide is very inexpensive.

Are you serious? Has it worked on the film?

Windshield

Go to your newspaper. Buy a roll end of unprinted newspaper. Usually very cheap. Clean with your normal cleaner (if it's good) and dry with crumpled unprinted newspaper. It does the best job. It may take a couple of times to get the film off the glass. Use plenty.

Hmm, got 5 vehicles plus 1 smart all of which have their windshields Rain-X'd every couple months. If you begin with a CLEAN windshield, make a couple applications of Rain-X and then buff off the haze - ALL IS GOOD!

As for Rain-X harming the windshield wipers, I think that's an ozone/pollutant issue combined with a wiper lifecycle of about a year. After all, no consumer product company wants you to have a windshield wiper that can last longer than a year.

In NC the inspection gorillas make certain of that by twisting the ends and making sure they get to sell you a new set in order to pass the yearly inspection!

Rain-X Original NOT the 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner with Rain Repellant. I believe I bought it at ChinaMart.

No smoking here. Probably the plastic thing. But the dealership didn't even want to clean it. I had to insist.

What the alcohol touched right away worked great, but it evaporated too quickly. And with asthma, not sure how well acetone will work but I might try it.

Costco sells a window cleaner that's 1000% better than Windex. Spray Away is the name. I have a car that has tint on the windows and this is what I use to get them clean plus not harm the tint material.

The wife uses it on the counters and the range. Works great.
