Keys

I've contacted two dealerships trying to get duplicate keys. Both are checking into it... thought it would be pretty straight forward. I don't need the remotes, just a basic cut key. Anybody else get additional keys?

Thanks,
John

Love the car - hate the KEY!

there's been some discussion of trying to just get keys without the fob...doesn't sound like there have been any confirmed successes yet.

They all have to be made to the car from germany is my understanding. it also sounds like you have to get to keys at a time...
there is some one portland A-maxx lock smith that can get them, at least for the 450 and i am sure he can take care of the 451. He says the are the same as some opel keys

I don't need the remote lock capability. I didn't think the keys were chipped. Won't hurt to try if the Opal key works.

I just got word from a dealer it takes at least 4 days, $70.00 per key shaft from Germany, and another $110.00 to attach the head and program it. $360.00 to get a couple spare keys?????? Ouch.

I could probably have a machinist create one from scratch for less. (if they're not chipped)

I'll check Opal.

Any other ideas???

If they are chipped that is the price of the security of a chipped key.

Just wondering if this worry is beacuse someone lost one of those HUGE KEYS already.
