Leather Seats?????

Questioned for seasoned leather seat owners. I've never had a car with a leather interior before. Is there any product(s) anyone can recommend to clean the leather and keep it soft?

Nothing works like Leatherique products. Their Rejuvinator oil will also soften the hard, cheap leather used in the fortwo.

Griot's makes an excellent product as well for less $$. Smells Great, too.

Thanks brian r, for the links. I've never had leather seats, nor a cabrio. What about the cabrio roof ... cleaning, waterproofing, etc. I've read wax is to be avoided on the roof ... does that mean no automatic touchless car washes?

A damp cloth has always worked for me. Keep the seam areas vacuumed as the grit can abrade the thread and the cover material. In my experience the tanners have done a good job and you just need to keep it clean. Keep away from saddle soap as it is very alkaline and will do much more harm than good.
Leather was the only material that could withstand the harsh enviroment on early cars. Cloth was the premium seatcover until synthetics came in. Funny how things stay the same as they change...

Indeed, avoid soap as well. Just rinse with water and use a soft brush to remove stubborn dirt/bird poop.

- rinse leather seats with water?
wow, this is the worst thing you can do for any leather product.
Try a leather cleaner, then afterwards a leather conditioner after the leather has been cleaned.

Hey SDway, I think he was referring to the roof when talking about just rinsing it with water. Just buffering between smarties .
