Your tire pressures, like everyone elses, have decreased due to colder weather. Just check all four tires and bring back up to 29/36 psi and you'll be good for the Winter. Check again as things get warm in the Spring, but you'll probably lose enough pressure ove the Winter that you'll still be OK until next Fall, when you'll need to add again.

On most cars we've owned, this is a once-a-year maintenance.

A decent air gauge is ~$10, so there's no real excuse to not have one handy.

If your smart is like ours, you had better get used to this light. Ours go off all the time even with PERFECT air pressure. This TPMS is a government mandated system that is not ready for prime time. smart and VW as well as others use air pressure sensors inside the wheels, BMW and others use the anti-skid system to monitor changes in tire diameter. Guess which one works better in longtime usage? Our Phaeton goes in for new sensors every couple of months or less, it just depends upon how badly we want to waste a few hours. The same thing is now happening to our cabrios: they have different total mileage (2700 and 5100) but were built within days of each other. We re-set the sensor system every morning and within a mile or so the light returns. BTW I check the air pressure cold with a high quality gauge every few days, and the system worked fine from Jan. until Sept.

Tire Pressure Warning light keeps going off

Ever since the cold weather set in mine is doing the same thing.
It comes on first thing in the morning and you can't make it go out until the car warms up after driving a few miles.

And yes I have checked the tire pressure at least 4 times!

This is extremely annoying.

It started for us when the weather got colder too. It would go out after I drove awhile. Now it's on all the time. Went to check air pressure and discovered on each wheel the hub cab holes are barely aligned with the tire valves and I can't get enough of a grip to get the caps off. Tried to take off a hub cap, but they're kind of rubbery and it would just bend and not pop off. I got all dirty. Then it started to rain. Going to try again today.
