linkage problem: poll?

in this way we can get an idea of how many smart in % are affected ;)

I have had the car for 3 days and the button on the gearshift cannot be depressed keeping the transmission in either N or D without the ability to remove the key. Is this what is referred to as the linked lock problem? The road service will pick the car up tommorrow and take it to the SF dealer.

Both of our cabrios have been "recalled" for "lubrication of the shift linkage" according to the service/parts manager. Mine is going in on Tues. anyway for the 1k oil change and to replace the defective windshield so I will have them do it all. The other has only 300 miles so it will get it's own special trip to the dealer when we pick-up the other one.
