Locking without the three beeps

Handy when the key's battery is dead:

Quote:
> Open the driver's door
> Press the central locking switch (dashboard)
The indicator lamp on central locking switch comes on when starter switch is in position 1
The indicator lamp on central locking switch flashes when starter switch is in position 0, car beeps once
> Remove the key from the starter switch, TAKE IT WITH YOU, and close all doors.
The vehicle is now locked and the anti-theft* warning system is armed.

*if opted
IMPORTANT WARNING: CAR LOCKS; IF KEY'S INSIDE, YOU'RE LOCKED OUT!...

Also keep in mind that if the rear window is open the car won't lock.
So if you press the button and you don't get the three beeps, check the rear window.

Can you turn the fob beeps off?

I'm often in an area where I prefer a MUCH quieter car. Any idea how I can make it not beep when I lock and unlock it, yet still use the fob? The manul mode you posted from page 250 is clever, but it's a great way to lock me out of my car...

Or can one significantly drop the volume or duration of the beeps?

I think it is one or the other, no middle road unfortunately. I'd be happy with the no beep choice from the fob IF the lights would still flash but it appears there's no way to use the fob without the beeps.

I don't get beeps - just the lights flash. And I'd like to have the beeps. There must be some way to change from one to another??

No beeps?! The only time I don't get the beeps is when I have closed a door/boot improperly.
I wouldn't mind eliminating that 3-beep warning as long as the lights flashed.

My lil monster is 6 months old today and I never knew this! I'm so happy not to have to have the key in my hand till after I get out of the car.

Funny thing, tho, there was only ONE peep with this method. When I lock with the key fob, I normally get 3 beeps.
