Service interval indicator

I noticed in the discription of the instrument cluster, there is a "service interval indicator". will this be resetable by any one or will we have to go back to a smart service center?

The owners manual is silent on oil. It says "contact your dealer."

It will be another 5-6 months before I can reasonably expect to pick up my car, I'll find all this out eventually. I do change my own oil, and am looking forward to getting under this car. In the 1990's I drove a Ford Festiva(talk about a tin can!). It really took a beating and always came back for more. I think the crankcase on that car held 3.5 qts of oil. Anyone able to say what the oil capy. is on a Smart engine?

Odd!

There are about 30 smart centers who have checked in on the Dealers sub-forum, each with a service department. Yet when technical questions are asked here, even simple ones, none have stepped up to offer the info. Do you suppose they are told not to and are sitting on the info??

I can certainly respect that.

But please tell us about someone else you heard about that went after them under M/M and settled. ;)

Maybe I glanced too fast through this post, but don't recall seeing what weight oil the factory initially uses in the motor... any idea?
