...the magnetic plug or chip detector used on the engines I work on are placed at the lower point of the engine right in front of the oil pick up of two 5" diameter X 1" thick scavenge pumps producing anywhere from 5 to 7 inches of vacuum..the gear right in front of the inlet is spinning at 41K RPM...this chip detector will turn the light on even if the particle making the circuit can not be seen with the naked eye...after the magnet gets a hold of the particle it will not let go...no matter what kind of flow of oil goes across it... 120 PSI air from a blow gun MAY blow it off...
...this chip detector magnet is 3/16" in diameter...
