Maguiar's full body wax

Well, I went and did it finally. I am thinking it was a few days too late though. Friggin bird dropped a big one on the hood. I went and followed the Evilution website waxing procedure since it was the first time.

Used Dawn dishwashing soap first and only time to clean Everything off the car. Bird stuff came off but I think the bird had acid in that crap. Left a stain even after my Claying.

Dried off car and pulled into garage to cool off.

Clayed the car and I already seen a big difference in the wash vs claying.

Next, I got out the #7 show glaze polish. Went to town.

Sun was just about down so pulled her outside so I could see. Garage lights are not great for putting on wax.

Got the wax done just before the sun went totally down.

Rally Red does look real awesome done up fully. As soon as I get some sun, I will post some pics.

I get her personlized plates tomorrow. WOOT!

Watch the video (link at the bottom).

Wax is a waste of time without using clay.

I used clay on our yellow smart for the first time in my life last weekend. I Guess I just don't get it. I didn't notice any difference. The entire time I felt like it wasn't doing anything but I did the entire care anyway (its not like its a big car). I used Maguiar's clay and quickdetail as recomended after I had gone to the local self wash.

Never Never use Dawn dish washing soap on a car, it takes the wax off. Bad for the car's finish. Remove all the oils. Only use a good automotive car wash soap. On a new car, claying will not make any difference to the finish. Trying using Maguiar's Scratch remover to the etched paint bird finish. It will take out some of of the blemished marks. If that dosen't work then machine polish the area. Be careful of swirl marks.

DAWN is for FIRST TIME WASH ONLY! If you go to the Evilution website, and look up waxing, there is a clear definition. It is to remove ALL crap from dealer and the transportation. Only on First wash it is to ever be used.

Ok, on with the pictures.

Here is good old Red dirty.

here is Red All washed after using Dawn for this time only. Next time will be using Maguiar's car wash.

Here is the door after only doing the CLAY Part. You can see it is looking shiny already just from making it smooth.

And here is today, out in the sun, with all the Polish, Wax and don't forget tires and windows done.

Now when you run your hand across her, it just glides right on by. So smooth it would amaze you.

It will really bring a shine to any car. Use it on a car with a few years on it, will make it shine like new!

Ok, I understand what you guys are saying about using a 'car wash soap' rather than Dawn or dishwashing soap. It's a NO-NO! Bad smart owner, BAD!

But what do you guys use for wax on the MIC (molded in color) Rally Red, White and Black panels? Once I have my smart clean, I want to put something on it to protect the finish and allow water to bead up on it.

I went on Meguiars site and contacted them, but the guy that replied insisted my WHITE smart Passion had PAINTED WHITE PANELS, not molded in color. Since he doesn't have a clue, I'm asking YOU guys!
