This is cool. Thanks. I haven't gone too deep and I think the Smart would be a great car to tinker with because of its simplicity (I hope ... it is fairly modern electronically).

I am, however, concerned about the number of dealers and to what extent it will be serviceable elsewhere. It would be great to find a maintenance schedule.

over here in the uk, after a time a lot of small
garages started servicing them.works out cheaper
then using dealers.
we have two members in our smartcar club which
repair/service them, one is a mobile mechanic he
comes to your house.
our club has about 200 members.
