Thanks for this post. I thought it was just me that couldn't reset it. I'll keep trying.

Victory! Several days and many attempts and I'm re-set. Seemed like faster was better. Off to find a cabin air filter. Good luck, all.

Hubby went to leave for work this morning, to see the flashing wrench and a -2.

I searched to see how to reset it. And found Evilution's instructions. So with paper in hand I was ready to try when hubby got home.

I must say I'm not as coordinated as I thought I was. And 4 seconds and 10 seconds go by fast. Forget about trying to check a watch at the same time.

Anyhow, tried for about 10 minutes with both options, with no luck. So gave up.

Well, I don't give up that easily, so went back out a few minutes later.

I tried once and still nothing and then tried again and YES it then worked with method 1.

So it is not easy, but with patience and the right combo action I think it can work, maybe not for all but for some.

FYI= Mfg. date 02/08 : Del. Date 4-30-08 : Current miles 8600

Just tried it after using the method in the owners manual (which doesn't work) Only 3 tries and it worked.

I think these instructions are better

The instructions I followed didn't work at first until I "interpreted" them, so I'm posting my own version, which worked successfully for me the first time I tried.

1. Begin this procedure with the ignition in the off position (position 0).
2. Switch the ignition to position 1 (accessory on).
3. Activate the maintenance indicator in the instrument display by pressing the left instrument cluster button twice (double-press). You are successful when you see the wrench icon and the odometer readout changes to indicate the number of days until the next service (this may be a negative number).
4. Switch off the ignition (position 0) within 10 seconds. If the wrench icon disappears before you switch the ignition off, restart the procedure from the beginning.
5. Push and hold the left instrument cluster button and immediately switch the key to position 1 (accessory on). It is not necessary to switch the engine on. Note that if you hesitate after pressing the left instrument cluster button before switching the ignition key to position 1, you will reset your trip odometer instead.
6. Continue holding the left instrument cluster button for approximately 10 seconds. You will be successful when the maintenance service interval changes to "10000" and the flashing wrench changes to a solid wrench. You may now release the left instrument cluster button and the wrench icon will disappear.

I will cross-post this to the several concurrent threads that are active.

After trying for a couple of weeks (when I remembered to try again) I was finally able to reset the maintenance indicator this morning by using timhood's instructions. Will admitt though, it took me three trys before I finally got the sequence right. For those worried about "losing" the present mileage shown, write it down before you begin (wife does keep track here). Thanks timhood! My dealer would not reset the indicator even though I could produce receipts for the oil filter, oil and the cabin filter. The statement made was since they didn't preform the service (nor received the ridiculous cost for said service), they could'nt be responsible for the service not being preformed (smart Center of Jacksonville, Florida, oops! that I let that information slip?). One has to wonder if there is a mechanical failure in the future, will my word and receipts be good enough to show that I had preformed service over time? Hopefully, I'll never find out...
