maintenance service interval won't clear

What steps am I missing to clear the maintenance service interval? All it says in the manual is to press the button on the left. It won't go away. Any ideas? TIA!

I get 65 views on this question and not 1 response? How long do I have wait until others hit the 10,000 mile mark?

oops! Sorry, I looked and I don't have an answer.

Why don't you call your smart center's service manager?

Since I won't clear the display on my car (I count on it to remind me when the time comes), I won't try it myself. But as you're looking for it, can I suggest to press and hold the left button for at least 10 seconds while it's showing the maintenance interval, and see if it clears?
As for your second question: some owners have past 10,000 already. Obviously none read your post...

i may be wrong, but the manual recommendation i believe was just to cycle the display from maint interval through the other displays (trip odo, etc)...

i "thought" that the interval had to be reset via the computer. don't know if perhaps the scangauge can clear it?

reset Maintenance / 2 methods

Method 1

Switch on ignition to position 1

Select maintenance indicator within 4 sec. by double tapping the instrument cluster button

Switch off the ignition to position 0 (off) within 10 sec.

Push and hold in the instrument cluster button and switch ignition on

Hold the instrument cluster button for another 10 sec

In that time, the spanner symbol on the LCD will flash and eventually reset

Method 2

Switch on the ignition to position 1

Select maintenance indicator within 4 sec by double tapping the instrument cluster button, keep it held down on the second press.

Switch off the ignition to position 0 (off) within 10 sec

Switch ingnition on

Keep the instrument cluster button held down for another 10 sec.

In that time, the spanner symbol on the LCD will flash and eventually reset.

I've hit 12k miles and have had my first scheduled maintenance but the smart center cleared the computer.

pInball,

I did both methods, 1 and 2, hoping to permanently clear the maintenance indicator, numerous times but to no avail. The maintenance indicator - flashing spanner- will show up with a neg number (now it's -400, was -200) before it disappears when I put smart into gear.
( I also read the manual..). Unsure if I'm too fast on the tapping or the key postion changes...

I am in the same boat with my Bumblebee. Had the service done and they FORGOT to reset the maintenance counter so now I see the wrench and - miles at start up. Dealer says they can't reset it without hooking to the computer. Not that it isn't possible to do, they just don't know how. I have tried all methods mentioned on this forum, as well as speak with Smart in Germany....nothing has worked. The cars in Germany have a whole menu that comes up with that left button...we only have maintenance and trip odometer reset.
Any suggestions appreciated. It is 100 miles to the dealer

the directions p1nball gave do work... BUT maybe not the first or tenth time it odes work just have to hit the sequence right. Took me 20-mins of fiddling between the methods before I hit the sequence just right and no I cannot remember what that was that finally got it done...
