Manual driving with Neutral

Since this car uses a standard clutch, would it be ok to slip the car in Neutral when going down a hill and putting it back in Drive/Manual once the car started to either slow down on a flat surface or when going back up a hill?

I missed doing that in my manual transmission car.

Short Answer:
Don't put it in Neutral to coast, leave it in gear.

I haven`t read the other post - but to answer your question - no it is not OK. With modern fuel injected engines controlled by computer, you actually get better gas mileage by leaving the transmission in gear while coasting. This cuts off all fuel delivery to the cylinders. If you shift to neutral the engine will be supplied enough fuel to idle the engine. Another factor to consider is that in neutral there will be no engine braking. Also, you will be putting yourself in a position of not being in full control of the vehicle. Only place a transmission in neutral when the vehicle is stopped.

I tried both coasting and with neutral while stopped. Improved 4mp on my kia.

I try just stopped next time and see if that is where I get the milage. I probably would not do it on the smart though. Esp when it gets that good of MPG.
