My most recent oil change was just under $30. That was a Mobil 1 filter and five quarts of Quaker State full synth. I poured the extra quart and a half on the car..... now it's all shiny and won't rust......... lol.

Don't think I'll have too much use for a 55 gallon barrel of Mobile 1 full synthetic (even though I do use it in both of our vehicles) sitting around in our garages (yes, we have two garages here at the house). Funny, with two double car garages one never seems to have enough space even if one only holds a smart car. Let's see the problem here...smart Passion, Honda Ridgeline, John Deere tractor, full size wood workshop, life's collection of odds and ends, hummmm, can we say, "A real need for a large garage sale?" Tried that once when we combined two full households after the marriage and one probably should just give stuff away...this way one doesn't really feel "raped".

Oh, there's TONS of auto-related websites with shill posters. I see these types pretty frequently, particularly on motorcycle-related forums (Red Line v. Amsoil arguments, for example).

There are some good deals out there. Just did my third change and used Mobil 1 0w30 (WalMart 5-quart jug $22 + Purolator PL14612 $7) less than $32 with tax.

Don't buy oil for price, but it for quality and long-lasting. Oil is the life blood of your vehicle.

Remember, oil is cheap, engines are expensive. You already know how much better Amsoil is than anything else. So why fool with anything else? Who are you kidding? You're not saving any money with Mobil 1. You think are you because you picked it up locally at Wal-mart, but you're not saving money.

Amsoil HAS to be better than anything else out there. Remember, it's a mail order product.

It's just the same that you don't see places like Wal-mart or K-Mart carrying JL Audio, Soundstream, McIntosh, MB Quart, a/d/s or any other high quality products. Local stores cater to the cheapskates.

You get what you pay for. I wouldn't trust anything from Wal-mart to take care of an engine that costs thousands of dollars to replace. That's just nuts.

I am not a cheapskate. I am wanting a smart because it's a quality German product... not something like a cheap Kia or Hyundai that will fall apart in a short time.

The word "product" is a derivative of "produce". Germany does not "produce" the smart.....it's "produced" in FRANCE.

If you use that rational, would you buy a Dodge Caravan because it's a "German product"? Same company "produces" the VW Routan as does the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. Oh, btw, while they DO have "German engineering", they're all "produced" in CANADA.

So, back to the question at hand......are you saying Amsoil is only better than EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD just because you can't buy it at WalMart? That's some messed up rationalization.
