Good find; I guess the question is does it meet the Mercedes spec for a "fleece" filter?

Someone might care if they use a non-OEM filter, have an oil-related engine problem, and then have to fight the warranty fight with smart. But, if saving a few bucks on the filter is worth the chance, they can go for it.

Sorry, thought we were discussing MB spec 229.5 oil and filter requirements, not time travel.

Check out the ST6607 Super Tech filter, under $3.00, I believe it meets the synthetic fleece requirement, sold at Walmart, manufactured by Champion.

The ST6607 has PAPER FILTER MEDIA I tore one apart to verify.

I can say with some official Army specification testing experience and access to specifications and test data that many of you are concerned with mere words while you have zero idea what these words mean.

In todays environment there are very few, if any, modern oil filters that do NOT meet the Mercedes or Mitsubishi specification.

Trust the Napa cross reference guides, they are researched by experts for all the major Oil filter makers.

Saying that, There are not many oil filter manufacturers....like car batteries.... there are only three or four factories that make oil filters.

The most important specification to follow is: anti drain back valve ...yes or no.... Flow rate.... by pass pressure....

Not one of the major brands has a filter media or micron level that is NOT well within the Motor manufacture spec....

For a fact: flow rate and by-pass, are the most important specs to make sure the filter is sized and configured to accommodate the lube and pressure system engineered into the specific motor

If Napa says they have the Mercedes/Mitsubishi equivalent, you can rest assured it meets the manufacture spec...

Napa is a well established company....they re brand Wix, Motrcraft, and Mobil spec filters... all with the highest standards

Fleece...sheesh....does any one here really think lambs wool is inside any filter?

Google, Ask dot com, yahoo or any major research library is your friend.....

I use Napa Gold filters on all my cars, did lots of home work about oil filters, that led me to use them.
I think most filters today are good but Napa Gold filters and Mobil 1 filters are better built, more filter media, anti drain back, bypass valve, metal caps.
