..the pointy end is the seal...not the threads or the hex body...having the "body" stick out a bit is no big deal, it actually is a good thing...easier to put the wrench over it and to put the hose for the bleeding process..

jetfuel...no pig of any kind..

and again, thanks jet! More stuff for me to learn for a guy who has never bled brakes... I would have gotten the short ones and been in trouble. I knew the threads weren't the seal, since there is the holes in the bottom for the fluid to go through. I just wasn't sure about the small gooseneck..

Depends on which Chicken Little/conspiracy theorist/final authority you choose to follow.

Do what the dealer recommends. That's their job.

Seriously, they won't recommend any maintenance you don't need. They're not trying to take advantage of you by charging you more because they don't actually make money on repairs. In fact they lose a lot of money on them because they replace so many things for free.

Think of the tech at the smart center as your car's doctor. As my psych doctor says "if your doctor says you should take the meds, take the meds."

Um, can I sell you a bridge while I'm at it?

AFAIK, dealers make plenty of money on repairs and service. If they didn't, they wouldn't be sending me ads as to why it's better to use them rather than my neighborhood mechanic.

I have never had a dealer replace anything for free... every part they used is itemized and charged for, plus they charge an extra 10%-15% on the bill for anything they forgot. You must have a very nice dealer, but they won't be in business for long.

Just took my Versa in for a Warranty repair on the trany. It was covered and will not cost me a dime, Except to the new Brakes and Coolant change and he did try to hit me with the recommended 60 trany service, but I caught him on that because he was replacing it any way.

Oh yeah, they don't make any money because they give stuff away

The 20k brake fluid change will provide you no benefit... at 20k. If you keep the car a few more years, there will be much less chance of expensive braking component problems caused by moisture in the fluid.

Funny how people can find money for what they want now, but will not spend anything to benefit their future self.
