New 2009 - 111 miles = Check Engine Light

Anyone know what might be going on?

I only have 111 miles and the check engine light came on - I drove in some steady rain today - could it be a wet sensor?

Thanks.

Don't know if getting it wet would hurt.
Do a search, quite a few threads on the subject.
The 09's sure sounds like the 08's to me.

Check your gas cap. Make sure it's on tight. If not, this will cause the check engine light to come on.

The '09s are supposed to have their own gas cap warning light. So either the OP is wrong and the car is actually an '08, or there is another cause.

10 miles later (a trip to the post office) and the light is now off. Hmmm
.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

The 09s have a loose gas cap indicator light. So its not the gas cap.

Not sure - my Audi does this as well - engine light on....engine light off. Kind of annoying - especially with so few miles on the car.

As long as it went off, you are probably OK, but if you are by the dealer, have them check for stored codes.

Yes, never just ignore the check engine light... if it runs, you're probably ok for short term. But if it keeps coming on with your Audi, something's wrong and you need to check on it before a small defective part causes bigger problems to more expensive parts. For example, a faulty $80 Oxygen sensor can damage or destroy a $1,500 catalytic converter if the converter is allowed to overheat or absorb carbon from inefficient combustion. Of course, the Audi parts are probably triple that.

I thought the 09's had a new loose gas cap indicator light, not just the check engine light. Any Autozone can read the stored code since it uses ODB II system. At least that will let you know how bad it could be.

all fixed - dealer said it was some emmisions programming issue. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
