Really? So to you when they said "Never mind riding your "boss'" coattails." and mockingly saying "my boss did this," "my boss is doing something else." Do something for yourself." that was not going out of their way to be rude?

Heckle: to harass and try to disconcert with questions, challenges, or gibes : badger. link.

How were his rude comments pertinent to this threads topic? You said that you feel that he was asking us to 'act' on something - act upon what exactly? We obviously already know about the "motor vehicle owners right to repair" act, as WE were the ones who posted links to it first, so what exactly were we supposed to act upon? They clearly posted what they posted just to upset us, instead of helping out on the forum.

@docmwj - we did not 'tear apart' anything, in fact if you read the thread we actually thanked and praised him for the video.

Same old same old. Certain folks here deal in woulda coulda shoulda, others just act. I personally learn more from those who act. The major difference between theory and application is application will absolutely tell you what works. Smart Car Geek, you might try applying yourself. Karl and Old smart already have. And this WAS an oil change venue.............

OK, sliding back to oil, I got some oil dope from the smart service tech as posted above, noting that scVAB provides Castrol Syntec 5W-30 with Roger Penske's blessings. The tech ran off a copy of the US smart oils list for me (M-B 229.5 spec). Of the 56 oils from 39 manufacturers listed, 15 are 0W-30, 1 is 0W-40 (Mobil 1), and 40 are 5W-30.

Successfully changed the oil. was way easy, and didnt even need the whole funnell thing for the trans. BTW, the oil that came out of the trans looked exactly like the Mobil 1 75W-90 that I put back in it. Probably didn't really need to change that, but I wanted to go as clean as I could... didn't really notice much at all in the way of shavings or other particles in the oil.

No, Shell Rotella T is not on the list. Shell Helix Ultra AB 5W-30 is. I use Rotella T (30W-30) in the Mitsubishi/Westerbeke auxiliary diesel in my sailboat.

Re: Shell Helix Ultra AB. Not sold in the US, but R.D.Shell owns both Pennzoil and Quaker State, and Pennzoil's Platinum Ultra and Quaker State's "Q" full synthetic oils should do. Likely the US equivalents of the Shell UK Helix.

Rotella T is a great product. I've used it for years on a variety of twin and 4-cyl motorbikes.

I suspect that the 5W40 syntec would certainly be suitable for the Smart.
