Oil Change

Does anyone know if the quick change oil places will be able to do oil changes on the smart? I heard dealers were charging $80.00 per change.
This price seems excessive plus I live about an hour and a half away from the closest dealer.

Just remember you are changing the oil every 10,000 miles not every 3,000. If you have never owed a MB before get ready for service shock when you see that first bill.

Oil change

I don't want to change my own oil!
The oil change places know how to properly dispose of the old oil and with the discount coupons they always have I can get it done for a lot less than $30.00.

I'm with Anthony. It's a car. Takes a smart filter. Good oil and good gas. Regular intervals. Logged in the Book.

My neighbor in Idaho used to save up his car oil, then use a bunch of it to oil the dirt road in front of his property. In the middle of cornfields, on top of underground water supplies. Sensible Disposal is critical.

smart is Green, after all.

Filter is standard Fram, oil is Mobil 1 synthetic. Changes every 10,000 miles (about once a year). Any quick lube that has the right filter can do it. But if you want all the checks done right, go to the smart center. To avoid invalidating your warranty, please always abide by your warranty terms and conditions even if the vehicle is used and serviced by a third party.

I've always done my own oil changes. I use empty fryer oil containers (the big square ones-holds about 5 gallons) to keep the old oil in. Whenever I gather a few of them up, I go to my local salvage yard and they take them for free.

You can change your own oil and dispose of it properly. Be prepared to spend more than $30 to have someone do it for you.

That's what I meant by "Logged in the book." Abide by the rules, reap the benefits.
