Ok, am I missing something? (Re: Radio Ten operation)
I think I am missing a part to my smart. Every time I have ever test driven, the cup holder had two parts. The basic two holes, and an insert in the furthest holder that was rubber. I called the smart center in Round Rock and they said the 09's didnt have it. Is this right? I tried finding a pic of what I am talking about but haven't yet.
Also, the book for the Raido 10 says I should be able to hit the menu button while in FM mode, and see the text being brodcast from radio stations. It does not give me that option in Radio mode. I called again on this and the tech said the book was wrong. Any ideas?
My 08 has the insert for the cup holder. I remember reading that it was removed for some intentional reason.. don't know why. Mine keeps coming out on highway trips when I pick up the drink and it's a delicate operation to get it back in. But without it, things slide and bump around... no cup holders ever work the way they should.
The 2008 Radio 10 does not do radio text in the USA - only in Europe. Unless they upgraded the 2009 radio, that's a misprint.

Doesn't sound like anything I have in my '09...

North American broadcast radio stations currently don't have the ability to broadcast text along with the normal signal, except for some HD radio stations. I may be wrong about RDS, though, but I don't think any US stations broadcast RDS data.
We do have RDS here in the US, our 1996 Audi A6 Avant displays this, and most late model GM products display RDS feeds. I was disapointed when I saw the Radio 10 US didn't display RDS here.

Some do. I receive station and song information on my Nissan truck's FM radio from a Charleston, WV station.

I have the cupholder insert in my '08, but don't use it. It's rolling around my cargo organizer until I remember to take it out and store it somewhere. My coffee cups are too tall to use the insert, but fit really well without, so I never really saw the point.
My 200o Malibu had RDS. Reading the manual, the raido 10 should too. Anyone else have an 09 and the cup holder insert?
Cup holder insert deleted for 09 - part of the $400 price increase.
Check the fine print in your manual concerning Radio 10; the 08 manual had a little (1) next to some of the features; at the bottom of the page Note 1 said something like "not available in USA."
I wish the radio would give the song titles. It supposedly will on CD's but I haven't found one that works yet.
The only way I've made it work is to burn CD-Rs with songs in .mp3 format, and tell the radio to display the ID3 tag info. It doesn't work with regular audio CDs.
as for the Radio 10, book has a * saying that you can't get the radio info. Just have to read the fine print and clean your glasses.
As for MP3s. Vista really sucks at making a disc, so I found here on the forums that you can use ITUNES and it works great. Just don't forget to go into the Menu while it is playing and turn on the TXT. That way you can see what song is playing.
