P0440 OBDII Code Evap Control Sytem...Incorrect Purge Flow

So my check engine light is on on my 2006 SmartCar Passion and my mechanic ran the OBD coming up with this code (P0440 OBDII Code EVAP Control Sytem...Incorrect Purge Flow). Given the newness of the SmartCar operations and with no local parts available, he wasn't quite sure what to do. The car runs fine...the check engine light is just on continuously.

Any suggestions for further repair/diagnosis?

Clear the code and see what happens!! It may have only been a momentary problem.

You have a mechanic who can read the code but can't clear the code?

Yes, by all means get a new scangauge and a new mechanic

There is a fix for this problem on the G&K cars if that is what you have. PM me and I will tell you the fix. But first make sure the fuel cap is on tight. Also check to see if there is fuel in the charcoal canister. There are lots of things to check for problems and all are under the car next to the fuel tank.
