with the auto down and key bypass it becomes real nice. cane has the bypass on his site and at first the dealer tried to tell me it was messing with the radio back lite, orange. so i took it out. but now that the dealer replaced my radio i put the key bypass back in and its been great!

So, was I mistaken to start with ... or has something changed in the law ... or is my smart a criminal?
this isn't another one of those 'Left' vs 'Right' threads, is it????

are you serious? you really think there is a LAW about how a power window is suppose to operate? i know our legislature has passed some pretty lame laws, but i don't even think THEY would waste their time on an issue like this.

just be thankful that it DOES have the 'auto-down' function and live with it. don't think it's a safety hazard, don't think you'll see people raising and lowering their windows on the interstate causing those behind them to be upset, don't think you'll hear of an accident being caused by it, so i guess in answer to your question: YES, you were mistaken. but i do like the thought that YOUR smart is engaging in possible criminal activities.

i wouldn't recommend it. i saw a video online of a cat trying that with a power sunroof. the sunroof didn't have any safety features and it upset the cat so much, he lost his head over it.......

DOT Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 118 cover operation of power windows and sunroofs. It is primarily concerned with the up function, and the prevention of accidental operation causing deaths or injuries [people having fingers, hands or heads caught in a window/sunroof operating on an auto up function]. This was in reaction to a number of deaths and injuries to small children in conjunction with auto up power windows regulators.
This is only one of about 300 MFVSS regulations.
