Plastic over Windshield

New owner here - almost 30 days, and have not figured out what is the piece of black plastic on the exterior just above the windshield in the center? What is it's purpose?

My guess is its decorative. I'd had mine for a few days before I noticed it.
Anyone else got a better idea?

Do you own a cabrio? Are you referring to the wind deflector?

Karl,
You can see it in this picture of my car ... in the center just above the windshield.

At least, I think that's what rfritz1 is talking about.

Yes, I have a ForTwo Passion Cabrio. Someone thought it may be for the rain sensor wipers, but I do not have the Comfort Package. It is about 3" long and sticks up no more than .5". Mysterious.

Since this works so well for deflecting the wind, smart should also design a similar device called the "question deflector."

Well, I hope I never feel that I'm smart enough to quit asking questions.
I got some doozies today. But, I'm getting used to it.
