I just took mine in to get the roof blind or shade replaced. It was done while I waited and the new blind(shade) seems to block out more light and now works well.

Passenger door took two pulls to open door, but only after the electric locks were released. Subsequent pulls (after lock release) opened door on the first pull everytime.

Took it to the dealer, they lubed something, no further problems.

3 weeks later, received a call from the dealer saying they were reviewing past service tickets and noted my problem. They ordered an entire lockset to replace. I said it was fine, no problems, they said "Let's replace it under warranty before it happens again, and it will happen again."

A+ for the dealer, they fixed it while I waited and had it done in about 1.5 hours. They also found condensate in the drivers door turn signal and replaced the unit.

At ~7500 miles on 08 Cabrio it started to 'buck' at low speeds. Tranny, clutch and pressure plate replaced. Rating - B. Would have given a A to SC Bloomington but they misaligned a seal during the repair and leaked oil on garage floor. Replaced seal and refilled oil. Lucky garage floor is epoxy so no damage.

#1 Airbag module replaced at about 200 miles
#2 Transmission/Engine Module replaced at 1050 miles
Took 3 months to get part delivery then installed.
#3 Airbag Module #2 replaced at 2000 miles.

All repairs done at Swope Auto Center, Louisville, KY A- for service. I was able to wait for each, but communication from service department could have been better while I was waiting for parts.

Also, though it is not considered a real SMART issue by the dealer, the AC will stop pushing cold air on humid days. I was told that it is because of the small size of the condenser.

Tire pressure light comes on when it's cold in the AM and warming up on the way to work. I'm told it's because of the cold to warm temps. I guess I understand it.

Your tire pressure light probably means your tires are losing air very slowly as is normal, and it's time to give them a boost. Check the pressure with a digital meter against the ratings on the door. That's the cold pressure, so driving your tires may gain a little pressure but they can handle it. Aim for within 1-2 pounds of the rating, then use the TPMS reset button once your pressures are normal.

The AC on the smart is deliberately underpowered to match the smaller engine, so your best bet is to run it at fan speed 3-4 and recirc on once in a while. Running the AC in fan speed 1 won't pass enough air over the super-cold coils before it starts to freeze, so it might get blocked with ice on really humid days. The AC design is pretty good but it does have limits not seen in luxury cars and large SUVs.

Don't know the temps in 40229 but this time of year the overnight drop is usually enough to trigger the TPMS. Just refill the tires to factory setting when it's nice and cold.

The one thing that really upsets me is that I suppose I will have to pay to have my glass re-tinted. NOT happy about that.

My wife has kindly agreed to take it in next week. I'll update this post after it's repaired.
Recap: My wife took "Lil Panda" in yesterday for the replacement of the rear glass. Repair took about 2 hours to complete. Joe Taylor at SCI was great in dealing with us. We even got "Lil Panda" back CLEAN AS A WHISTLE, thanks to a free car wash!

Thanks SCI!

1st day had to have the back hatch aligned 'cause it was rubbing the black Tridion side cover.

Sunshade didn't pull right from day one - three 'adjustments' and 6 months later, replaced with 2nd gen one (I think, much easier to slide than any other '08 I've pulled)

Trans never sounded right from day one - marbles in a wooden box on engaging first gear, every time. Awful lurch in reverse, like a cheap golfcart. Software 'upgrade' 2.0 made it nicer shifting, but still noisy and reverse still sucked rocks... A while later, 22k miles, no go and trans would not 'initialize'. Warranty replacement on clutch assembly, actuator, linkage - service rep quoted 'oh, you have an early '08, it has the mumble-mumble metal clutch basket and just needs to be replaced (updated to '09)
-- now drives almost like the 450 I rented in Germany! Most Excellent - no noise, reverse engages like you think it ought, smoother shifting all-round.

Roof 'crazed' in Nov/Dec (April '08 car), warranty replaced. Probably should buy the funny bimini style half cover for summer days.

New roof improperly installed by outside vendor (no longer a vendor for that dealer, as of a few minutes after we brought Smart in A+ to the way our Smart Center handled everything), dealership 'eating' costs of replacement - it blew right off on the freeway after being on for a month! Theory is either improper application of or lack of primer use or the installer let glue set too long before putting the roof on. MCC has *very* specific instructions for install and this is the second error (and again, last) from this vendor reports service writer. Ours was obviously install error - the glue was completely intact on the Tridion. Reports that the only other error car at our dealership had "fwupping-brapping" sound (whoopie cushion) and leaks, was determined to not have achieved full adhesion on one rail...

In all aspects the dealer has been great to us. Excellent A++
