Question for service tech

Maybe one of the service techs on the forum can shed some light (ha!) on this. Is it possible to enable daytime running lights on the US smart 451s as is done on the Canadian cars?

Thanks.

John

It needs to be enabled in the firmware first - this can be done in your Smart Center.
After that, you can dis-/enable it yourself by pulling back the highbeam switch and simultaneously pressing the open/lock buttons on the remote control

Thanks for the info; I just sent it to the folks at Louisville asking to have it done before we pick the car up.

John, Were you (or anyone else) successful in getting the DRLs enabled in the firmware?

In short, no. It appears the "enable the DRLs via computer" technique is either not available on US spec 451s or is not known at the dealer level. So, the old on/off switch will have to do for now.

and the last time I checked, the key enable/disable is no longer available in the Canadian 451s as well.

Concerning the MINI, it still amazes me how few MINIs have their DRL's enable! Am I the only one?

I had my DRLs enabled on my MINI before I left the dealer on my pick-up the new car day.
