First, let me preface by saying that I *did* do a search for this topic before posting, but got so many threads with "radio" in the title that I can't tell if this has been discussed before.
OK, whew, now having done my disclaimer ...
Can someone please explain the differences (not "techie" differences but functional differences) between Radio 9 and Radio 10, other than the 1 v 6 CD?
The radio 10 can play MP3 discs. These discs can hold hours of music vs. a regular audio cd. In addition to playing mp3 discs, it can display the song information on the screen of the radio (Song Title, Artist...) Finally you will obtain greater control over your mp3 discs by having random play for a folder or all songs on one disc.
Visibly the radio 10 has silver accents around the screen too!
The radio 9 has just the two door speakers. I believe the Radio 10 also has two tweeters, a sub-woofer under the driver's seat (should really feel it there) and it has the 6 CD changer.
We purchased just a Radio 9 since we knew we were going to replace it with nav/bluetooth/ipod system and better speakers. When we saw the door speakers (after they were removed from the car, we were glad we replaced them.
Right. I had a radio 9 with my orphan. I took out the door speakers and replaced them. And just last week I got my radio 10 from another member. Now I need to sell my radio 9.
The 10 has a different display, yet it's not any better. It has a little silver paint i.e. trim where as the 9 does not. The same speakers are shared as far as I know. When the upgrade is ordered, tweeters are included and a little 4" speaker is below the driver's seat with a plastic enclosure that simulates a cabinet. It does woof every now and then.
I also saw little transistor radios in the past that had High Fidelity on them also. Enuff said.
Can you control your iPod functions through the radio 10, or is it the same as Radio 9, where you still need to use the iPod to control it (e.g. skip to the next song)?
My smart radio 9 manual says, on page 17, "The CD drive can play audio CDs and CDs with MP3 or WMA data." I haven't tried anything but audio CDs myself.
