Radio10 Song tag display / menu issues

OK - I have a Radio 10, and it's not displaying the song title on a radio station I know broadcasts the info. So I go into the menu, and it shows Loudness On/Off; and pressing the right/left arrows does nothing. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over?

RDS is not enabled in US smarts. But, it is my understanding that US radio stations do not transmit the information anyway.

The US spec radio 10 does not display the info from radio stations. The display only works or mp3 files on the CD.

They do all right - friends of mine have a Prius in which the song title info is displayed. Not all do, I suppose.

(Not to mention the bluetooth/FM box I am thinking of buying that transmits the ID3 info)

How annoying. I suppose it's a good thing I don't care all that much about it, then...

While it may not be RDS, many US radio stations do transmit artist and title information. My 2001 GM vehicle was fully capable of such display.

Sadly, the NOT Premium Radio 10 in our 2008 model is lacking that feature?

Wow, my lesson for the day! Did not know that, some system other than RDS? I'll accept what you say as truth ... and not extremely irritated since I rarely listen to radio. Still, accepting what you say, WHY NOT have the feature in a supposedly premium radio?

I have have two RDS equipped radios. While the local governments do not broadcast emergency and road information over the RDS network radio stations do use it to broadcast song/station information. Not ALL stations but a large majority do.

It works exceptionally well on the Blaupunkt in my 70 bug and the radio on my phone. I'd think there would be a way of enabling it on the Radio 10 as well if someone just new what code/chicken dance it took to get into that sub menu.

The fine print in my Radio 10 manual on the pages that discuss the ID tags state the feature is not available for the radio in the US... At least my CD's work and I have Sirius so I'll survive....I guess.

As the GM website describes their radio artist/title display feature as the Radio Data System (RDS) apparently the same protocol is employed in both the US and the UK.

Would have been a nice feature on our (not so) Premium radio with such a large digital faceplate!

Yes, our smart is a commuter car and with the average American spending an hour or more in their daily commute a true premium sound system is a must! Sadly this must be yet another area where smart failed to complete their homework before coming to market?
