Rain Sensor Sensitivity

Now the rainy season starts again in Florida, and I notice that the rain sensor requires more drops of water to star functioning, I comment this to the dealer and he said dirty glass for me this is an excuse not to look into the problem.
Any one had this problem?
After the wipers starts to cycle is ok and then when they stop is low sensitivity again.
Also did the program the transmission , waiting on more data on gas milage.
Also note the new stiker now the front tires are at 29 psi and before was 26 psi . Thanks

The problem I've had is with the wipers being too sensitive. SPecifically, if the window isn't clean (road grime) a misty trail behind the wipers makes the sensor think the glass is immediately besieged by more water. Thanks to Dunerunner, I now know to give my windshield a spritz of washer to clear up the problem.

See if you have any difference when you spritz your windshield washers.

Mine was too sensitive before the 2.0 update as well. It would flip into "high" half the time from just road spray. Now it's pretty good about adjusting, though on occasion I've had to flip it from auto to low. That relay ticking annoys me, more because as an engineer I know it's one tick closer to the MTBF on that relay...

Mine seems to be intermittently odd. Sometimes it will wipe too fast, and sometimes it hardly wipes at all. I do find that if I turn the auto off and then back on, it seems to reset to something I would call normal most of the time. It also seems to behaving better since the update.

The sensors have been an area of frustration for the dealers as well. I have gone in and played around with the sensor thru the SAM unit. None of the changes seem to effect the wiper or head lamp operation.

The biggest problem is that there is no repair for them, they either work or they dont, so if you bring it to the dealer, as I have had several here as we tend to get a bit of rain in Seattle, and as long as it works there is no fix.

Try Rain - X

Give your front window a good Rain X treatment and your sensor will work much better. Rain will also just slide off the window. At speed wipers are hardly necessary.

Sooooo.............. if it doesn't work, are they being replaced?

My sensor is much too insensitive. It will start to work at just about the time I can not stand the lack of visibility any longer and reach for the lever. I want it to start much sooner. I would much prefer the old adjustable speed system previously available on most cars. I like the ability to adjust the speed based on amount of moisture experienced. I plan to have my dealer check this out on my next visit.
