Rattle during acceleration

Sorry if this has been discussed, I did a search and could'nt find anything. My smart has a rattle when I accelerate, it sounds like a loose heatshield but it isn't. I talked to the dealer and they said it is normal. The noise was not present when I bought the car but it appeared within 700 miles. Does anyone know what causes this?

If you find it let me know as this has been discussed before. Does sound like loose heatshield a certain RPM ranges during acceleration. Mine has always done it. Heatshield feels secure.

..dv...check this out and let us know...
...under the car, right around the jacking point recessed areas there's a flap..get your flash light and find them...use your hand and push them up and let them fall down back in place...do this slow at first and increase the speed later...does it sound like what you're hearing????

Jetfuel, I'll try that. It couldn't be the license plate in the back could it?
