Are smart dealers prepared to flash the car back to 1.0 if needed or if the owner wants to go back to it for some reason? I assume since the car is re-flashed to 2.0 it's technically possible to re-reflash it back to 1.0, but maybe that assumption is wrong. Would the dealers have the original transmission settings as a backup, or would they have to get those from smartUSA. Thoughts?

Reason: Removed reference to hill assist issue -- too inflammatory
Suze's recent hill-assist issue, if linked to the 2.0 transmission update, raises an interesting question:
Are smart dealers prepared to flash the car back to 1.0 if needed or if the owner wants to go back to it for some reason? I assume since the car is re-flashed to 2.0 it's technically possible to re-reflash it back to 1.0, but maybe that assumption is wrong. 1 car is not an epidemic I am sure they will figure it out and she will be fine. I know my wife's car is far better with the 2.0 than it was from the factory.
From what I've been told, the process isn't reversable. Once the dealer's computers were updated it basically overwrote the existing software.
Something else to think about might be that Smart probably ran the 2.0 through just a wee bit of testing before they sent it out... don't think they're back track for one issue on one car.
I highly doubt that the dealers will have the "1.0" software to re-flash, and am even more doubtful that smart would provide the software if the dealer requested it. The 2.0 upgrade is just that, an upgrade. The improved software has been in service on all 2009 models, and now many 2008's as well. If there were a problem with it, smart would surely address it with another improved software version rather than resorting to rolling back to "1.0".
As dink stated, it's very unlikely that 2.0 is the culprit in the situation you're referring to, and I'm certain it will all get resolved.
Even if it could be rolled back to 1.0, I doubt they'd do it. There were fixes such as eliminating the brake squat to reduce strain/wear in addition to enhancements like paddle shifting in D. As Padawan said, if there were a real problem and not just a malfunction on one car, they would release 2.1 to take care of it.
Calm down, it is just one issue being reported. And I have heard it cannot be reversed.
I know, I know. I'm not spazzing. I'm just a "what if?" kinda guy and the recent post triggered this question in my mind. I never gave it much thought since I haven't had any problems with the 2.0, but it got me wondering if reflashing back to 1.0 was even possible. From the responses, I think a new 2.1 flash would make more sense.
From what I have been told the 2.0 is not reversable. The software uptdate is part of our monthly update disk sent out by smart. The software has to be installed by the dealer or the DAS machine will stop working.
