A reasonable person would assume that depressing the brake pedal to the point where the car is held stationary would be sufficient to engage the hill assist. I don't think the system looks as "stationary" as much as "specific pressure level" which might be more force than is needed to hold the car in place.

"Stationary" on level ground, or "stationary" on a hill?
... but it couldn't hurt to bring zippy in and have a technician run a diagnostic on the computer to see if there are any stored codes or faults. If everything's fine, I'd just see if the issue turns up again or becomes frequent.
Thanks, will do, next week!
SmartTech - Darin - I have something that belongs to you! Will call for an appt.
just for fyi no dealer can or should flash back to 1.0 software. there are some legal reasons for the update. i was never told what or why the legal reasons were; but all '08 have to be flashed and you can not go back.
plus the way the dealer computers work is they automatically update and as far as i know you can not remove them. and every time you program a module the computer connects to MB's servers and records what was done....
Legally.... yes... It wasn't called a recall but that's what it was... replacing the VIN stickers has legal ramifications... and I'm guessing there was more to the software upgrade than just what we see... If your car ever visits a dealer it will be flashed... the dealer is legally obligated to.
Hmmm......... haven't done mine, don't have any plans to do so. Also haven't visited a dealer, also no plans to do so. Guess it'll have to wait. If they'd like to dispatch a flatbed and return it when done, it's ready to go.
Last I checked, the car is mine. They require permission to do anything to it. I don't hand it over, it stays as manufactured. Look at it this way......... smart (Daimler) is convincing people to PAY the dealer to examine the car, and then they transmit that info back to smart (Daimler). You are PAYING to provide THEM with real world research data. What's wrong with that picture? (And none of that "it improves the breed" garbage. That's what R&D is for)

Are you still referring to the 2.0 upgrade? There is no cost for that service, and it is definitely worth taking the car in for.
