Rear Wheel Alignment

My Smart's rear wheels are tilted out at the bottom (in on top) Like an over loaded VW.

Anyone had this problem? Anyone know a fix? Can the rear wheels be adjusted for camber?

Every Smart I've seen, including mine, seems to have this excess neg camber, so I assume it is normal for this car.

It's a special feature introduced early on to discourage the smart from tipping in aggressive driving. They also made the front tires smaller, made the suspension tighter, and added a ton of electronics. Check out any smart history/book and you can read how these changes were introduced after failed internal "ELK tests" (which in turn were a result of a very public failed ELK test by an early A-Class MB).

smarte2008 as noted the stance and angles are designed that way...from what I can see (and contrary to what I have posted before*) there are no adjustments to the rear hubs they are set in a fixed set of angles

*I had found a German site a year ago with adjustable track bars that sounded like you could use to adjust rear toe angle ....turns out they are only used to modify the thrust angle by shifting the back side of the DeDion cradle left or right.... only reason to do that would be for circle track racing

Then what happens when you add H&R or Eibach lowering springs?

In the rear, nothing.
The tube acts as a solid axle so settings are fixed.
Lowering the front points out a bumpsteer problem as the toe changes quite a bit.
For me, straight ahead (0 toe) feels better in cross winds.

Are they that unique?

I've owned my fortwo since aug '05 and have used the dealer for warranty etc. Now out of warranty and patience with the dealer, I want to take it in for an alignment at my local garage but they don't have the specs. They are not alone as i found out after a few phone calls. Does anyone have the alignment specs for an '05 fortwo? Thanks, Peter

There is a thread somewhere here about wedges someone makes to bring the wheels to 0 camber. Some people don't like the look, but that form does have a function. Stressed, (Old enough to know I can't out-think Daimler)
