The first link is now a dead-end (at least when I tried a minute ago). As for the second link, it takes a while to download. For those who want to know the essential, here it is:
Quote:
Outside the US market DAG [Daimler AG] offers the smart 4X2 in a micro-hybrid drive version (MHD). The MHD has significant differences to the US version smart including a special stop-start generator which requiers a wider V-belt. DAG has found that under certain driving and weather conditions MHS's wider generator belt may contact the plastic filler neck assembly and cause damage. This situation cannot occur in the US due to the fact that the smart 4X2 is not sold in the MHD version and the filler neck assembly is metal as opposed to plastic.

Here is the one for the paint recall. Sorry, I originally linked the one that was MHD only.

It is a pdf document so it may a some extra seconds to open:
DAG was informed by its paint supplier that a single batch of paint sent to the company in April 2008, did not meet specification. Are-work was done in the plant using different formulations of painting materials. After the re-work was completed, it was determined that the combination of materials used to repaint the frame and chassis could lead to delamination of the paint materials from the body and frame structures. DAG has determined that such delaminating can take place in the area of the body where the windshield and roof have been affixed with adhesive, which could affect the adhesion of those components to the vehicle body.
smart USA is calling the 43 affected owners informing them of the issue and asking themto, bring their vehicles to a dealer to have the defect remedied through repainting of the affected areas.
