red fire extinguisher looking key thing under console

just removed center console, towards the back ( closer to the ebrake area) there is a small plastic red key.... Looks really similar to the loop you pull no a fire extinguisher. Anyone know what its for?

Dunno what it's for, but I think this is what the OP is talking about (see the red pull tab at the rear of the shifter unit):

Without seeing it more closely, my initial guess is that it's perhaps a release for the key/shifter interlock?

Yes enuf that is exactly what i'm talking about and if you look to the right of the console you'll notice there is a small spot with two holes that it may go into?
